Mighty Mutts is a wonderful dog rescue organization that comes every weekend to Union Square in New York City. They bring beautiful dogs of all shapes and sizes that are hoping to find loving homes.
Our beloved dog Wendy came from this organization. The first time I laid eyes on her, I felt an instant soul connection. It was a very hot summer day, and she looked wilted from the ninety degree NYC heat. I took my water bottle out and gently wet her velvety head. Our eyes met with such depth of feeling.
My husband and I visited Wendy at Union Square for a few weekends before we were permitted to take her for a short walk. I instantly noticed Wendy’s happy gait. Her joy was infectious. We walked her to Washington Square Park where she stopped and stared at a saxophone player, cocking her head with fascination (I learned later that she was a “bird dog” which would explain her animated response to the high pitch of the instrument.) And after weeks of thorough background checks, Mighty Mutts approved our application, and Wendy was ours to take home.
For anyone who has loved a dog, there are basically no words that can describe the deep connection and healing energies that a dog, (or any animal) brings into one’s life. When I paint, Wendy is there beside me, lying on our green velvet chair in perfect harmony and synchronicity with my creative process always enhancing it simply by being peacefully content. Her breath is the sweetest accompaniment I know.
Ever since I was a child, my love and affection for animals has been as strong as my love for painting. For years I have wanted to find a way to combine my two passions - design and animals- and I am so thrilled to now be able to include the Mighty Mutts rescue organization here on my website.
